HALLENBECK/HOLLENBECKS of THE ALBANY MILITIA

The following listing was hand copied by Charles Irish in 1932 from a book, New York in the Revolution, making note of various Hallenbecks (and various spellings of Hallenbeck!) who served in the revolution from the Albany area.

Abbreviations are as follows:

• Line = Line Regulars in US Service under General Washington
• Mil = Militia
• LBR = Land Bounty Rights (Soldiers had rights to choose lands for services)
• Levies = Drafts from the different Militia Regiments which could be called upon to serve outside the state during their entire term.

Various spellings of Hallenbeck are "segmented".

Albany county included the present Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schnectady, most of Green & Scharie and part of Washington; Ulster included part of Greene, Orange, Delaware & all of Sullivan County.
