STUDENT CLUBS

There are two student-driven sports-themed clubs which students can become involved with.

(1) Olin Sport Management Organization (OSMO)

The Olin Sports Management Organization (OSMO) serves to provide students interested in pursuing a career in sports with an opportunity to learn and network. The club hosts guest speakers at its bi-weekly meetings, featuring guests from all aspects of the industry...including team owners, general managers, athletes, agents, and more.

For a full list of our recent speakers, please see here:

Members have had the opportunity to attend local professional sporting events featuring pre-game Q&A sessions with team executives, attend national conferences such as the SMWW NFL Combine Career Conference in Indianapolis, and attend our annual speaker panel. In addition, the club also works closely with the Weston Career Center to connect students to potential internships and introduce students to the variety of resources available to them as they pursue career opportunities in sports.

Our club is open to all Wash U students with an interest in sports management, and members are free to come to as many events as they would like.

(2) Washington University Sports Analytics (WUSA)

Wash U Sports Analytics was founded in 2014 with the goal of educating its members on how to analyze trends in sports.

There are three ways to get involved.

a) Members can analyze a topic in the sports industry. Your findings will be posted on our website and publicized on social media.  Topics in the past include predicting the MVP in the NBA or forecasting revenue for the NHL expansion teams. All projects range from topic, difficulty level, and group size.

b) Members can attend speaker panels.  Each semester, we have well accomplished speakers educate our club on the world of sports. We also attend sports conferences like the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference.

c) Members can get involved in community service. We partnered up with schools in St. Louis offering tutoring and mentorship programs.
