Outlook Web Access FAQ

Here are some of the more common questions we receive regarding Outlook Web Access.

1.Q: How do I turn on automatic spell checking?

A: Click the Options Button in the Navigation Pane (left side of browser window). Scroll down to Spelling Options and check the box for "Always check spelling before sending."

2.Q: How do I recover Deleted Items?

A: See the documentation.

3.Q: How do I create a signature?
A: See the documentation.
4.Q: How do I access a different mailbox to which I have been given access?
A: You can open specific folders by using a standard format URL. If you have access to a mailbox for a class account named CLASS1, you would open the mailbox using the URL https://mail.olin.wustl.edu/exchange/CLASS1/ and logging in when prompted. If the person with username SMITH1234 gave you permissions to read his calendar, you would use the URL https://mail.olin.wustl.edu/exchange/SMITH1234/calendar/ and login.
5.Q: How do I purge my Deleted Items folder?
A: Select the Deleted items folder and in the toolbar you will see an icon of a trash can. If you move your mouse over it, the help text "Empty Deleted Items " will appear. Click this button to empty your Deleted Items folder.
6.Q: What do all of the icons do?
A: The easiest way to find out what an icon does is to move your mouse over it. A text box will pop up, telling you what the icon does. Most of them are self-explanatory. If you really get stuck, there is a comprehensive help system accessible by clicking the Help icon in the toolbar.
7.Q: My question isn't on this list. What do I do?
A: Check with the lab consultants if you need assistance. You can always send a message to the Help Desk (helpdesk@olin.wustl.edu) as well. We'll add more questions to the list as they come up.
